The total number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas are now at 9,577 as of Sept. 21, 2020, according to the latest case bulletin by the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD).
Out of the total number of cases, 3,766, or 39 percent, are active cases.
The DOH-WV CHD reported 210 new COVID-19 cases on Sept. 21, 2020, which included 203 local cases, 5 cases of Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF), and 1 case each of Locally-Stranded Individual (LSI) and Authorized Person Outside of Residence (APOR).
Bacolod City listed the most number of new local cases with 63 new cases, followed by Iloilo City with 49, Iloilo with 32, Negros Occidental with 31, Aklan with 15, Capiz with 9, Guimaras with 3, and Antique with 1.
The new ROF cases include 2 new cases each from Negros Occidental and Iloilo province and 1 new case from Bacolod City.
The new LSI case is of a 43-year-old female from Victorias City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 9483).
The latest case of an APOR is of a 64-year-old male from Bugasong, Antique (WV Patient No. 9480).
Five confirmed COVID-19 cases continued to yield positive results in repeat tests.
The region also listed 234 new COVID-19 recoveries, increasing the total recovery tally to 5,657, or 61 percent of the total number of cases.
Most of the recoveries are in Bacolod City with 159, followed by Negros Occidental with 29, Iloilo City with 28, Iloilo province with 12, Capiz with 4, and Aklan and Antique with 1 new recovery each.
Two new deaths were reported by the DOH-WV CHD on Sept. 21, to a total COVID-19 fatality count in the region of 154.
These include a 65-year-old male from Silay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 9156), and a 51-year-old female from Bacolod City (WV Patient No. 9577).
WV Patient No. 9577 was also a newly-confirmed case.
The DOH-WV CHD on Sept. 21 released 2,021 results from 10 accredited laboratories, with 9 in Western Visayas and 1 in Cebu.
Out of these, a total of 1,806 tests yielded negative results.
