BACOLOD City – Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Thursday that monitoring of travellers going into the city will continue despite the fact that Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are considered Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) free.
Leonardia said that all the Persons Under Investigation (PUI) for the infection have been discharged from the hospitals in the city.
“Let us not be complacent and continue to be vigilant,” Leonardia said in a press conference here.
With Leonardia were Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, head of the Inter Agency Task Group on Covid-19, Dr. Grace Tan of the City Health Office, and City Administrator Em Ang.
“While we can say that we are Covid 19 free, this no reason to celebrate yet,” Leonardia said.
Tan said there is no new PUI in Bacolod City.
“We have a total of eight PUIs, all of them were tested negative for Covid-19 and were discharged from hospitals that means we are safe to say that Bacolod City has no coronavirus as of Thursday,” Tan further said.
She added that the discharged PUIs will still undergo 14-day quarantine in their homes and they will be monitored by the health officers.
Tan said that they have intensified their monitoring and campaign to prevent the entry of coronavirus.
She also said that the public should not withhold their travel history from the countries affected by the coronavirus so that they will be properly monitored.
