COVID-19 death toll in Capiz hits 100-mark

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – COVID-19 has claimed 100 lives in Capiz after three more persons succumbed to the disease on May 16, 2021.
Also, 32 persons tested positive for COVID based on data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
Roxas City has 26 new cases followed by Panitan (2) and one each in Dumalag, Mambusao, President Roxas, Sapian and Sigma.
The PHO reported that 46 persons have recovered.
At present, the province of Capiz has 2,176 confirmed cases including 323 active cases, 1,753 recoveries and 100 deaths.
Most of the 26 new cases in Roxas City were considered contacts of previous positive cases.
The city has 1,078 confirmed cases (130 active cases, 894 recoveries and 53 deaths).
Meanwhile, the chief of hospital of Bailan District Hospital confirmed that five of its personnel were positive for COVID-19.
According to Dra. Ma. Venus B. Loretizo, the operating room (OR) and other departments of the hospital where the personnel were assigned will be closed for disinfection.
Close contact of the infected personnel will remain at the quarantine facility for now.
Loretizo said medical services will continue and COVID-19 minimum health protocols will be observed.
She said the infected personnel already received their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccines.
