Nine more repatriates were infected with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Western Visayas over the weekend, bringing the total cases in the region to 146, based on data from the Department of Health-Center for Health Development Western Visayas (DOH-CHD 6).
Case Bulletin No. 79 of the health department issued on Saturday logged three confirmed cases of Covid-19.
The three new cases are all repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) – a 35-year-old female from Bacolod City (WV Patient No. 138); a 63-year-old female from Pulupandan, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 139); and a 50-year-old male from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 140).
They are under facility quarantine.
The following day, DOH-CHD 6 reported six more additional cases in the region.
The six new cases include four OFW repatriates, a 50-year-old male from Silay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 141); a 43-year-old male from La Carlota City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 142); a 46-year-old female from City Proper, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 145); and a 48-year-old male from Tapaz, Capiz (WV Patient No. 146).
WV Patient No. 146 was the first repatriate from Capiz to be infected with Covid-19.
The other two cases are locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from Cauyan, Negros Occidental who is a 37-year-old female (WV Patient No. 143), and a 26-year-old female from City Proper, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 144).
All six new cases are also under facility quarantine.
As of Sunday, Covid-19 cases in the region spiked to 146 with 35 active cases, 100 recoveries, and 11 deaths.
Out of the 146 confirmed cases, 66 are repatriates.
Negros Occidental recorded the highest number of Covid-19 positive repatriates at 19; followed by Iloilo City at 16; Bacolod City at 11; Iloilo Province at eight; Aklan and Antique at four; Guimaras at three and Capiz at one.
