Cousins accused in fatal Isabela stabbing

BACOLOD CITY — Two cousins allegedly stabbed to death a 64-year-old laborer in Barangay Maytubig, Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday after a drinking session.

Police Maj. Joseph Partidas, chief of the Isabela Municipal Police Station, said the victim was walking to his farm to get his cow when he encountered the suspects, alias “Perot” and alias “Jay-R.”

Partidas said the suspects were seen coming from their aunt’s house after a drinking session.

Perot allegedly punched the victim, while Jay-R reportedly kicked him, causing him to fall to the ground.

Jay-R then allegedly took the victim’s bolo and repeatedly attacked him.

The victim sustained stab wounds in the chest and back, while the suspects fled to upland Barangay San Agustin.

Partidas said the victim was found wounded by a resident and was brought to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

He added that the two suspects had reportedly been drinking for several days.

Partidas said the victim and the suspects had no prior conflict.

The victim’s family is pressing homicide charges against the two suspects.

The suspects remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
