ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The couple who were allegedly shot dead by a village’s son last June 9, 2021 in a “talipapa” or roadside market at Brgy. Hipona Pontevedra, Capiz, was laid to their final resting place Sunday morning.
Noly Navarro, 59, and his wife Juara De Asis-Navarro, 56, were interred at Corinthian’s Memorial Park in Brgy. Intongcan, Pontevedra after a funeral mass at the Fundamental Baptist Church in Brgy. Binuntucan also in Pontevedra town.
Hundreds of their relatives, friends and families wearing black shirts with the words “Justice for De Asis and Navarro” attended the burial.
Police on Tuesday last week filed double murder charges against the son of village chief Restituto “Resty” Oquendo who allegedly shot the Navarros.
Major Christopher Candelario, Pontevedra police chief, said the case was filed against Restituto “Sultan” Oquendo Jr. before the Provincial Prosecutors Office.
Four witnesses executed their affidavits in support of the charges against Sultan. One of them is the daughter of the victims.
Sultan remains at large after allegedly shooting the couple.
