A couple previously jailed for illegal drugs was arrested again in a buy-bust operation in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City on Thursday.
Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) identified the suspects as “Irene,” 35, and her live-in partner “Roy,” 45, a tricycle driver, both residents of the area.
Police Lieutenant Richard Legada, assistant CDEU chief, said the couple allegedly conspired in the drug transaction that led to the seizure of 105 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 714,000.
Legada said Irene, the primary target of the operation, was jailed in 2019 and released in January this year, while Roy was arrested in November 2021 and released in June.
Irene is classified as a high-value individual, while Roy is tagged as a street-level target, according to Legada.
The CDEU confirmed the couple was included in the barangay’s drug watchlist.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs to ensure a safer and more peaceful city.
