BACOLOD City – A couple died after their motorcycle was hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at Bangga Himaya, Barangay Tabao Proper, Valladolid, Negros Occidental yesterday.
Killed in the accident were Alfredo Barte, 73, and his wife Felicidad, 62, both residents of Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran town.
Police Major Eric Doronila, Valladolid town police chief, said that Barte executed a U-turn and failed to notice the alleged speeding SUV boarded by a family.
Barte was declared dead in a hospital, while his wife later passed away.
Doronila said the SUV was on its way to the southern part of the province when the accident happened. The passengers and the 52-year-old SUV driver were unharmed.
Both parties had an initial settlement, he added.
