Killed were Genesis Inquig, 23, and partner Jessabel Andaya, 20, both residents of Barangay Bajumpandan.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilfredo Alarcon Jr., city police chief, said the couple was heading to Valencia town when they failed to notice the truck that was partly parked on the road due to engine trouble around 1 a.m.

Both victims died on the spot due to serious head injuries. Alarcon said Andaya was believed to be three months pregnant.
