A couple was arrested after they allegedly connived in selling illegal drugs afternoon of July 27, 2022 in Banate, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspects as spouses Jaypee Figueroa, 37, and Ginalyn Figueroa, 38, of Barangay Carmelo, Banate.
The couple was arrested after they allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,000.
Members of Banate Police Station recovered from the suspects three more sachets of suspected shabu, the marked money, digital weighing scale, two mobile phones, and other non-drug items.
Lieutenant Renzo Martinez, Banate police chief, said the couple has been under police monitoring for several weeks before the operation.
Jaypee was an Oplan Tokhang surrenderer who yielded at the early period of the campaign.
He was eventually given a job at the municipal hall but allegedly returned to the illegal drug trade.
The couple is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
