BACOLOD City – A couple died following an explosion inside their residence at Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental Friday night.
Killed were Boyet Celiz, and his partner Leslie Prudente, 22.
Police Major Robert Mansueto, city police chief, said the couple was having an argument because of Celizs jealousy.
Celiz was holding a grenade while he was talking to Prudente. However, he did not notice that the pin had already detached from the grenade which caused the explosion.
Their house was damaged but no other injuries were reported.
Celiz died on the spot while Prudente expired at the hospital the following day due to multiple injuries caused by shrapnel.
Mansueto said Celiz had previously threatened Prudente and even attempted to hit her every time they argue.
Celiz had also previously threatened Prudentes mother but they failed to report it to the police.
