Councilor’s stolen car recovered

BACOLOD City – A red Mitsubishi Mirage sedan that was carnapped by two unidentified persons here last Wednesday from a councilor of Bago City, Negros Occidental, was recovered over the weekend at Circumferential road in Barangay Villamonte.

Police Captain Paul Vincent Pendon, head of Police Station 2, said that a member of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) discovered the vehicle last Saturday.

Pendon said the vehicle was locked and the front tire was deflated.

Some valuables inside the car were also scattered, however the councilor did not declare any missing item.

The car of the 47-year-old councilor was allegedly stolen by the suspects and was used as their get-away vehicle after they reportedly robbed and mauled him in a lodging house here last week.

The suspects flagged down the victim and threatened him with an ice pick.

Then they instructed him to go to a nearby lodging house, where they allegedly carted away the victim’s wallet containing P7,000 and a cellular phone after they punched and kicked him.

Pendon said they have no lead yet on the identities of the perpetrators.

He said they will try to look for a copy of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage in nearby establishments to identify the suspects.

The car is now in the custody of the police and will be turned over to the owner once the investigation is finished.
