ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A member of the Roxas City’s Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) proposed a resolution encouraging residents to bring their own eating utensils when dining in restaurants and similar establishments.
According to City Councilor Gary Potato, the proposed resolution is another step to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) here.
In his privilege speech on Tuesday’s regular session, Potato emphasized that this is one of the important things to be implemented other than social distancing and wearing of face masks.
He said that since dine-in is now allowed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine, his proposal will ensure that the cutlery used in the restaurant and other foods establishments are safe from SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19.
Potato added that a COVID-19 infected person can leave droplets on food equipment and infect others who will use them.
Aside from customers bringing their own utensils, Potato said using disposable utensils for restaurants, carinderias, bars, fast food chains, and other food and beverages establishments is one way to avoid being infected by the deadly virus.
