Pregnant women who were infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Iloilo City jumped to 31 as of Tuesday, October 13, 2020, according to the City Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (CESU).
Out of the 31 COVID-19 positive pregnant women, 15 are undergoing facility quarantine at the La Paz Maternity and Reproductive Health Center in La Paz district.
The Iloilo City COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center issued an advisory on Wednesday announcing that the La Paz Maternity and Reproductive Health Center now serves as a birthing facility for pregnant women who tested positive for COVID-19.
“The La Paz Maternity and Reproductive Health Center is now serving as the birthing facility for COVID-19 positive pregnant patients while Calumpang Clinic will cater to suspected COVID-19 cases and non-COVID-19 pregnant women,” the advisory said.
On Tuesday, the city also recorded four Covid-19 positive pregnant women in its daily tally.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas once again reminded the public to not be complacent and strictly observe health protocols as the trend of Covid-19 cases in the city is not declining.
“Residents should always observe health standards such as proper wearing of face masks in public, practicing physical distancing, and frequent handwashing. Barangays should ensure strict enforcement of safety protocols to prevent spread of Covid-19,” he said.
Based on the data from CESU, Covid-19 cases in Iloilo City continue to rise with 56 average cases recorded per day from October 1 to October 13, 2020.
The city recorded its highest number of daily Covid-19 cases on October 1 with 86 cases followed by October 2 with 85 cases; and October 8 and October 11 with 61 cases recorded per day. (ERS)
