BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), told police officers to register with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) so that they can vote and avoid administrative charges.
This was stressed by Baleros during a media interview at Nocppo headquarters here yesterday, following orders from the PNP national headquarters.
”We have to exercise our right of suffrage,” Baleros said.
Baleros recalled that only 500 of 1,800 policemen in the province voted in the May 13, 2019 elections because some of the personnel who were assigned here and in other areas were registered in their hometowns.
“Malaki yung numbers na hindi nakaboto, that’s why I urged them to really do the registration for the presidential elections in 2022,” he said.
Negros’ top cop said police officers in the province who fail to follow the order will be sanctioned administratively.
“We will definitely monitor them to make sure they do not disobey the order,” he added.
