ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 38-year-old laborer was injured after he was shot by police who tried to arrest him for a murder charge Saturday afternoon at Brgy. San Juan Jamindan, Capiz.
Police identified the wounded suspect as Felomino Suspeñes Jr.
Police Major Cherryl Visto, Jamindan Municipal Police Station police chief, said they tried negotiating with Suspeñes’ family for him to surrender but he refused.
Armed with a 12-gauge shotgun and a bolo, Suspeñes threatened to fight back if the police go near him.
Visto said the arresting officers were forced to shoot Suspeñes when he fired his gun.
Suspeñes suffered a gunshot wound in the left leg and is presently under arrest at Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra, Capiz.
He was first taken in Mambusao District Hospital but was transferred to Bailan for security reasons.
Recovered from Suspeñes were a 12-gauge shotgun with three live ammunition, and a bolo 27.5 inches long.
The suspect is facing murder charge for hacking to death his drinking buddy Jamen Nicolas of said place in June 2020.
