The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) led a major crackdown over the weekend, arresting nine suspects and confiscating more than 1.8 kilograms of suspected shabu worth PHP12.53 million.
Police conducted five operations, resulting in the arrest of three high-value targets and six street-level individuals.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recorded the biggest haul at PHP10.4 million during a Saturday night operation in Barangay Mansilingan.
CDEU operatives arrested “Linda,” 42, of Barangay Mansilingan, tagged as a high-value individual.
Also arrested were her companions “Cheryl,” 36, a caregiver, and “Richard,” 34, a service crew, both from Barangay Handumanan; and “John,” 23, a waiter, and “Angelo,” 23, both from Barangay Mansilingan.
Authorities confiscated 1,535 grams of suspected shabu sealed in tea packaging and PHP20,000 in marked money.
Other operations by Police Stations 2, 5, 6 and 10 led to an additional PHP2.1 million worth of suspected shabu being recovered.
All suspects are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The BCPO urged the public to report drug-related activities to help maintain a safer, drug-free highly urbanized city.
In Himamaylan City, five people were arrested Friday in Barangay IV-Poblacion, where authorities confiscated 150 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP1.02 million and a hand grenade.
In Sagay City, a 51-year-old tricycle driver was nabbed Friday in Barangay Bato after allegedly yielding 15.05 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP105,400.
