BACOLOD City – Captain Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 2, said they are investigating if the reported missing individual is linked to the victim of an alleged abduction case here last month.
On Nov 19, 2020, a concerned citizen reported to the police that a woman was allegedly abducted by unidentified persons on board a sports utility vehicle (SUV) while she was walking on Lacson Street here.
Estopa earlier dismissed the said report after the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said that the car plate of the SUV does not exist in its record.
Police also did not receive any missing person report after the alleged abduction.
But on Dec 3, a family reported to the police that 28-year-old Novie Andico failed to return to her boarding house in Barangay 32 here since November 19.
Although it was not yet confirmed if it has something to do with the alleged abduction, Estopa said they are not closing their investigation.
Estopa said Andico has not been staying with her family for seven years now, as she used to live with her relatives until she decided to transfer to a boarding house.
“Ang iloy gakabalaka and gina-validate ta man ang information nga mabaton ta,” he added.
Estopa said they have already contacted her friends to check her previous activities prior to the incident.
He said they are still gathering information which could help them in their investigation.
“For now, indi ta pa gid mahambal kung ano gid natabo or kung connected ini sa alleged abduction, ongoing pa aton investigation,” the station commander said.
