BACOLOD City – Police in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental do not discount the possibility that the recent P13.6-million drug haul in the city may have links to Cebu.
This, after the brother and wife of 49-year-old Rex Baron were arrested in Barangay Sambag I, Cebu City last Tuesday that led to the confiscation of at least 10 kilos of suspected shabu worth P68 million.
Coincidentally, Baron, a resident of Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, was also apprehended by police operatives in San Carlos City that day.
Lieutenant Ruby Aurita, public information officer of San Carlos City Police Station, said they are probing the possible link of the two, but they are not sure about the primary source of the illegal drugs.
“Isa sa ginalantaw ta na, kay basi pwede man na halin kay Rex diri ang supply nila didto,” Aurita said.
Aurita said they are having a hard time talking to Baron, as he would not disclose significant details about his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
“Medyo nabudlayan kami kay indi pa gid siya mag hambal, limitado gid iya nahambal,” she added.
Aurita said that Baron just told them that the illegal drugs recovered from him allegedly came from his “boss,” whom police identified as the top drug personality in the city.
The recovered illegal drugs from Baron, his wife, and brother were concealed in a Chinese tea bag packaging.
“Wala ta kabalo kung diin gid primarily halin ang drugs,” Aurita said.
Aurita earlier said that Baron is an alleged caretaker or righthand of the city’s top drug personality, who is at large.
