BACOLOD City – The remains of the two slain male individuals in Bago City, Negros Occidental were already claimed by their families over the weekend.
Police Major John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, identified the fatalities as Bacolod City residents Cristo Rey Genolos, 30, of Barangay 35; and Ruben Cardeñas, 28, of Barangay Villamonte.
Batusbatusan said Genolos’ wife and Cardeñas’ parents identified the two victims.
Last Thursday, both victims were hogtied and found lifeless by the roadside at Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Atipuluan.
Investigators also found at the scene pieces of carton with the words “Gutom na mga pusher, sige pa sila duso, tama na” and “Di pagparisi, drug pusher ko ya,” alluding that the two victims were drug dealers.
Batusbatusan said the victims suffered injuries in their heads and chest, but they cannot yet tell what caused these wounds, pending the post-mortem examination results.
He said it is possible that the incident might be drug-related or an act of vengeance, citing Genolos’ murder case in Talisay City last year and his previous arrest for illegal drugs here.
Police are also checking the background of Cardeñas to determine if it might have something to do with their murder.
He said they are trying to look for witnesses who could help them in their investigation.
“Kulang pa gid amon information, ongoing pa ang investigation,” he added.
