ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The police officer who was caught playing cards with three other individuals at Purok Malinong in Barangay Poblacion, Sapian, Capiz last June 22, 2021, was relieved from his post.
Police Colonel Julio Gustilo Jr., director of Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO), confirmed the relief of Police Master Sergeant (PMSg) Wilmer Peral as investigator of Sapian Municipal Police Station in Sapian, Capiz.
Peral was detained for two days at Sapian police station, but was released later after posting bail.
Gustilo said Peral is presently with the Provincial Holding and Accounting Unit Office of Capiz PPO pending the administrative case filed against him.
Police on June 23 filed charges for violations of Presidential Decree 1602 (Anti-Illegal Gambling Law) against Peral, Eduardo Ocana, 47; Nelson Villa, 58; and Romelyn Otocan, 45, all of at Purok Malinong, Barangay Poblacion, Sapian, Capiz.
The case was filed before the Capiz Provincial Prosecutors Office.
Fellow officers who arrested Peral also recovered a set of playing cards and P315 cash bet.
