BACOLOD City – A policeman and a jail officer died, while another was wounded in a shooting incident at Peping Gamo Street in Barangay Tinago, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental last Saturday.
Based on a report from Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo), the fatalities were identified as Patrolman Rhulin Mar Abrasaldo, assigned to the 705th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-7; and Edwin Laag, 55, assigned at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in the city.
Wounded was Winchita Jamin, 56, according to a police report.
Initial investigation indicated that the victims were shot by two unidentified persons on a motorcycle during the city’s fiesta.
Police have yet to provide more details about the incident, as investigation is ongoing.
Abrasaldo survived an ambush in Barangay San Roque on Aug. 15, 2022, while his colleague was killed.
