BACOLOD City – A police officer assigned to a quarantine control check-up point was wounded after a 10-wheeler truck rammed into a steel fence along Circumferential Road, Bangga Sawmill, Barangay Bata here last Sunday.
The victim was identified as Patrolman Jasper Pelasol, 23, of Barangay Mandalagan here.
Pelasol is on Field Training Program (FTP) and assigned to Police Station 3 here.
Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the victim was implementing health protocol in relation to the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) status of the city, when a truck driven by Nolito Gutierrez hit the barricade.
The steel fence fell on Pelasol and hit his head. He was taken to a hospital and is now stable.
Pico said Guttierez was reportedly drunk when the accident happened while on his way home.
He will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury, Pico said.
