Cop Dies in Pontevedra Road Accident

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A police officer assigned to the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6) was killed in a vehicular accident on Sunday night, October 13, in Barangay Malag-it, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police Corporal Robert Dela Torre, 31, of Barangay Tacas, Pontevedra, was declared dead on arrival at Health Centrum Hospital in Barangay Banica.
The investigation by the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station indicated that the incident occurred around 7:10 p.m.
Dela Torre was on his way to Poblacion Proper from Barangay Bailan, riding his motorcycle, when he collided head-on with another motorcycle driven by Cesar Berasol, 24, of Barangay Solo, Pontevedra.
Due to the strong impact, Dela Torre sustained fatal head injuries and other injuries to his body.
He was initially brought by the Pontevedra Emergency Response Team to Bailan District Hospital before being transferred to Health Centrum Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Berasol was taken to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for treatment and remains confined.
The police are currently investigating the incident.
