BACOLOD CITY — A 28-year-old policeman died in a road accident on Saturday in Purok Dahug, Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The victim, a resident of La Carlota City, was a patrolman assigned to the 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (NOCPMFC) based in Barangay Dulao, Bago City.
According to Police Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region, the victim was reportedly on his way back to camp when his motorcycle collided with the rear of a truck traveling in the same direction toward Barangay Abuanan, Bago City.
The crash occurred shortly after 4 a.m., and a force multiplier alerted authorities to the incident.
The policeman sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
Investigators noted that the truck involved did not stop and continued driving after the incident.
Authorities have obtained closed-circuit television footage that may aid in identifying the truck and its driver.
