BACOLOD City – Three persons, including an active police officer and a retired policeman, are facing a criminal complaint before the City Prosecutor’s Office for allegedly killing a radio broadcaster in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental last week.
Police Lieutenant Wilfredo Alarcon, officer-in-charge Dumaguete City Police Station, said murder charges were filed Friday against Police Officer 2 Roger Rubio, retired Police Officer 2 Glenn Corsame, and former police asset Teddy Salaw.
A case for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act was also filed against Salaw after police recovered from him a .45-caliber pistol with eight rounds of live ammunition.
Corsame and Salaw were arrested several hours after the killing happened in the city while Rubio is the subject of a manhunt operation.
The three suspects were tagged in the killing of 67-year-old block-timer Dindo Generoso of dyEM 96.7 Bai Radio after they were identified through a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage installed near the crime scene.
On November 7, Generoso was driving his car to work when he was shot by motorcycle-riding assailants at Barangay Piapi.
Based on the CCTV footage, Rubio was identified as the alleged gunman while two others were his accomplices as the alleged motorcycle driver and pick-up truck driver.
The two arrested suspects refused to comment on the accusations against them.
Meanwhile, Police Colonel Julian Entoma, Negros Oriental police director, urged Rubio to surrender and face the charges filed against him.
Rubio who is assigned at the Provincial Mobile Force Company failed to report for duty which put him on absent without official leave (AWOL) status.
