ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 55-year-old construction worker was arrested while seeking police clearance at the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station on Wednesday morning, July 17, after authorities discovered he was wanted for arson and frustrated murder.
The police identified the suspect as alias Jessie of Brgy. Tuburan Maayon, Capiz.
The warrant of arrest against the suspect was issued by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Bernardo Rivera Jimenez of Branch 54, Gubat, Sorsogon, dated February 23, 2024.
The court recommended a P200,000 bail for his temporary liberty on the frustrated murder charge, while no bail was recommended for the arson charge.
The suspect was reportedly a member of a Communist Terrorist Group and had first surrendered to the Maayon PNP a few months ago. He sought police clearance for a certain transaction, not expecting that his warrant of arrest would surface.
He is currently under the custody of the Pontevedra PNP station and will be turned over to the court of origin in Sorsogon province.
