A construction worker is behind bars for allegedly injuring his brother in a knife attack inside their home in Janiuay, Iloilo evening of July 20, 2023.
The suspect, 39-year old Leopoldo Arañador, Jr., was arrested after the incident.
The victim, Lurejun Arañador, 38, also a construction worker and resident of Sitio Tagbak Brgy Jibolo Janiuay, Iloilo, suffered three stab wounds on the left side of his body.
Luckily, none of the wounds was fatal. Arañador was taken to Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital for treatment.
Captain Alwin Salmon, Januuay police chief, said the victim is expected to be released soon.
According to reports, Lurejun came home drunk around 10:30 p.m. of Thursday.
At that time, Leopoldo, who was also under the influence of liquor, was already dozing off.
But the suspect was awakened by Jurejun’s loud noise.
He immediately got up from bed and took a knife.
The two brothers then engaged in a verbal tussle.
At the height of their argument, Leopoldo stabbed his younger brother.
No charges have been filed against Leopoldo, as of this writing.
