ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Suspected illegal drugs and an unlicensed firearm were recovered from a 34-year-old construction worker who was arrested at a checkpoint Monday evening by the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) and Traffic Management Unit (TMU) in Barangay Lawa-an here.
Authorities identified the suspect as Ringo Arbolado of Barangay Mongpong, Roxas City.
Recovered from him were 8 sachets of suspected shabu, a pocket knife, suspected drug paraphernalia, 8 live bullets, a .357-caliber revolver, a cellphone, and a motorcycle.
Arbolado was flagged down by HPG members who were conducting a checkpoint after noticing that his motorcycle lacked side mirrors.
The suspect also failed to present valid documents for his motorcycle.
The suspect’s backrider, a certain Rica, fled.
Arbolado is now in the custody of the Roxas City police.
