A construction worker was believed to have instantly died after falling from a bridge in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo early evening of May 7, 2021.
Patricio Paredes, 55, of Barangay Lanag, Sta. Barbara, was on his way home when the incident happened.
Paredes, who was working as a mason at a construction site in Barabgay Talanghauan, Sta. Barbara, was under the influence of liquor when he cycled going home.
He stopped by at the Lanag Bridge to pee. Witnesses said he scaled Amgen bridge’s concrete railing and could have lost his balance.
Major Raymond Celoso, Sta. Barbara police chief, said the victim fell from a height of around 80 feet.
The river under the bridge is almost dried up that the victim’s body landed on the dike.
He sustained injuries on the different parts of his body
Celoso said the victim was rushed to Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center in Jaro, Iloilo City where he was declared dead on arrival.
