A construction worker was arrested the afternoon of Nov 16 in Mandurriao, Iloilo City for allegedly stealing P200 worth of electrical materials.
The suspect, Jomar Sucaldito, 26, of Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, was collared after a one-meter-long stranded wire was recovered from him.
The stranded wire, which is often used for indoor applications such as electronic devices, circuit boards, and speaker wires, was tucked into his underwear.
Sucaldito is one of the workers for a condominium building at the Iloilo Business Park.
Security guards seized the wire while conducting a visual inspection and frisking at the entrance/exit area of the construction site.
The suspect allegedly failed to present any gate pass to bring the items outside the site.
Executive Master Sergeant Christopher Juarez, Mandurriao police investigator, said there have several cases of theft incidents involving workers in the said area.
“But they never learn. There are still cases of theft being reported to us,” he said.
Sucaldito is now detained pending the filing of charges against him.
