ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police are preparing a frustrated homicide complaint against a construction worker who allegedly hacked and wounded an elderly woman in Sitio Puntod, Barangay Dinginan, Roxas City.
The complaint is expected to be filed Friday afternoon, May 29, against alias Roger Azuro, of legal age, a resident of the area.
Police said Azuro allegedly hacked his neighbor, alias Derna Fedalgo, 61, who also lives in the area.
Fedalgo is confined at Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital and is scheduled for surgery after sustaining a wound on the right portion of her hand.
The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. when Fedalgo was about to close the bamboo gate of her house as Azuro passed by.
Based on the investigation of the Roxas City Police, Azuro was armed with a bolo when he allegedly hacked Fedalgo on the hand.
Fedalgo was immediately brought to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for treatment and was reported to be in good condition.
The suspect was arrested by the victim’s son and an in-law and was turned over to police.
Police said Azuro was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
He is under the custody of the Roxas City Police Station for proper disposition.
Police said Azuro had previously been tagged in the killing of his father, whose body was found inside a septic tank, locally called a pozo negro, in 2019.
Police said Azuro was not detained at the time because he was reportedly suffering from a mental ailment.
