BACOLOD City – A construction worker died after he was hit by a car at the intersection of Mabini highway in Barangay Zone 1, Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Roberto Parreño, 55, of Barangay Zone 1.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Ryan Calalas, traffic investigator of Talisay City Police Station, Parreño was crossing the street when the accident happened around 10:20 a.m.
“Nagbulid-bulid siya sa kilid dalan pag bunggo,” Calalas said, based on a statement of the barangay watchman who witnessed the incident.
Calalas said the victim was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here, but later passed away.
The 20-year-old female car driver, whose name was withheld upon her family’s request, was released on Friday after the lapse of the reglementary detention, according to Calalas.
Calalas said that both parties already had an initial settlement, as the car driver’s family assured them of assistance.
