BACOLOD City – A construction worker died while four others were injured after they figured in a road accident at Sitio Dukog-Dukog, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Killed in the accident was Jimmy Javenes, 30, of Cebu City.
The wounded were Jaime Buyan, 35 and Reynaldo Sotil, 38, both residents of Tagbilaran, Bohol; Roland John Labra, 29, and truck driver Elecio Ancajas, 55, both residents of Cebu.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Angelo Junco, city police chief, said that a truck used as a service vehicle for construction workers was on its way home when it reportedly encountered mechanical trouble.
The truck was traversing a descending direction when Ancajas allegedly lost control of the wheel, causing the truck to swerve, he added.
The four passengers of the truck were thrown off the vehicle before it slammed into a hill, Junco said.
However, Javenes hit a house on the roadside after he was thrown off the vehicle.
The truck driver and the passengers were brought to a hospital, where Javenes was declared dead.
The four wounded individuals suffered minor injuries.
