The Iloilo Provincial Government, with the Green Forum Panay Guimaras, Inc. (GFPG), Responsible Ilonggos for Sustainable Energy (RISE), Tara Climate Foundation, USAID – EKEW (CPU), and the Department of Energy (DOE) conducted a Conference on Decentralized Renewable Energy Systems (DRES) to promote Renewable Energy as one solution to the power crisis of Panay Island.
The activity was held on February 26, 2024 at the Grand Social Hall, Casa Real and was attended by the representatives from the municipalities of Iloilo and Guimaras, the Distribution Utilities and non-government organizations.
The conference focused on the establishment of mini/micro hydropower plants to harness the water resource of Panay, mainly of Iloilo Province.
The topics discussed in the conference were the Sociology of Blackout, Decentralized Energy System (DES) with focus on Renewable Energy (Hydro Power), Mini/Micro Hydropower Resources of Iloilo, and Iloilo Province Renewable Energy Program.
