BACOLOD City – A top official of the Department of Education here said that complaints against the modular teaching materials are natural reactions from parents and learners.
Netizens took to social media to express their reactions to errors noted in modules assigned to students.
Mothers also claimed that teaching their children got in the way of their household work.
DepEd City Division of Schools Superintendent Gladys Amelaine Sales told Daily Guardian here that “those are natural reactions.”
“That is why, everybody needs to adjust and adapt. Parents this time need to realize that their children do need them during their formative years, so, work should be adjusted so they can do their responsibility to their children. While learners also have to adjust, they need to focus on developing a study habit, discipline and mindful attention,” Sales said.
Sales said if both parents and kids do not cooperate, they will be grossly affected in the end.
“So, it is their choice. The future indeed depends on how parents really have to take mindful care of their growing kids. Dapat hindi puro nalang trabaho, dapat parents have to learn to balance. Eventually, teachers will not be needed anymore to really be closely facilitating learning because of technology,” she stressed.
Sales said “only those who are agile to adapt will survive and those who cannot adapt will lag behind.”
She also said that parents should learn to love the role of guiding their kids to learn.
“They just have to find a way and fit it in their daily or weekly routine. Learners on the other hand must be willing to be guided by their parents.”
