ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Community pantries have emerged in the province of Capiz as well.
Several groups and even government workers put up community pantries to help the needy amid the pandemic.
‘Malampuwasan ta ini ang pandemic. Kun magbuligay ang tanan, everything will be comfortable and less painful,’ said Lira Sheen Azarce, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Roxas Makawiwili auditor.
She said JCI members donated the goods for the initiative here which also attracted help from other sectors.
The initiative was coordinated with barangay officials.
The group assured the public that health protocols such as social distancing and wearing of face mask and face shield will be observed.
JCI Makawiwili President Joan Adonai said they are open for donations.
But they clarified that they will not accept donations from politicians who might take advantage of the initiative.
The group is also planning to put up a community library wherein children could acquire books and school supplies for their studies.
Another community pantry was also established at the Panitan public plaza.
