Comelec organizes Voter Education and Registration Fair at WVSU

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) conducted a Voter’s Education and Registration Fair on Monday, February 21, at West Visayas State University (WVSU) in La Paz, Iloilo City.

The event offered an opportunity for eligible voters aged 18 and above to register for the upcoming 2025 national and local elections.

Comelec Regional Director Dennis Ausan emphasized the importance of disseminating information about the ongoing registration period, which runs from February 12 to September 30.

He also highlighted the convenience of the fair, where election offices from various municipalities and cities came together in one location for simultaneous registration.

Election officers from 43 municipalities across the province of Iloilo attended the event to assist and accommodate registrants.

Ausan further underscored the close coordination with the youth sector, involving student councils from different schools and federation chairs of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).

The registration process accommodates various applications, including new registrations, transfers, reactivations, and corrections of entries.

Individuals who will reach the age of 18 on or before May 12, 2025, are eligible to register.

By organizing voter registration events, the commission seeks to encourage active participation in democratic exercises.

Comelec plans to replicate the event on February 23 at SM Bacolod and, in the following month, in Kalibo, Aklan, to ensure a broader reach and better accessibility to voter registration services.

Citizens are reminded of the importance of registering to vote and exercising their right to choose the leaders who will represent their interests.

Through active participation in the electoral process, individuals can make their voices heard and contribute to the democratic governance of the Philippines.
