ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has dismissed the disqualification case filed against re-electionist Jamindan Vice Mayor Lemuel “Aran” Vestidas.
In a decision dated March 4, 2025, the COMELEC Second Division ruled in favor of Vestidas.
The petition was filed by Patricio V. Villasis, who is also seeking the vice mayoralty in the upcoming midterm elections.
Villasis filed the case on Jan. 16, 2025, challenging the eligibility of Vestidas to run again.
However, the Comelec said the petition was defective due to the petitioner’s failure to include a “Proof of Affidavit Service,” which shows that the petition and its annexes were properly served to the respondent.
