College Student Surrenders After Fatal Bar Stabbing

BACOLOD CITY – A college student surrendered to police on Wednesday, a day after he was linked to the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old man at a drinking bar in Barangay Mandalagan.

Police Capt. Rondyl Tapang, head of Police Station 3, said 19-year-old “Adrian” voluntarily turned himself in at 2 p.m., accompanied by his father and Barangay 18 officials.

He surrendered to Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

Tapang said a witness identified the suspect as the person who allegedly stabbed the victim with a folding knife during a commotion between two groups at a bar on Lacson Street.

The altercation reportedly started from a heated argument triggered by intoxication.

The victim, a resident of Talisay City, Negros Occidental, sustained stab wounds to the chest and stomach and died at a hospital.

His family sought help from netizens by posting the suspect’s photo on social media.

Tapang said the suspect may have fled due to fear but later chose to surrender.

Homicide charges are being prepared against the suspect, who remains in police custody.

Police commended the community’s cooperation in facilitating the peaceful surrender.

They reiterated their commitment to justice while ensuring due process for the suspect.
