College Student Dies in Motorcycle-Truck Crash

A college student died after his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a truck on the afternoon of March 19 in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.
Novie John Samuel, 21, of Sitio Balud, Barangay Merced, Banate, was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Samuel, a second-year student at Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), was on his way to school when the accident occurred.
Reports said he was traveling through Barangay Bungca when he collided with the back of a Mitsubishi Canter truck driven by a man identified as “Randie,” 43, of Barangay Tigbao, Ajuy.
Randie reportedly heard a loud thud from the rear of his vehicle.
Upon realizing a motorcycle had crashed into his truck, he remained at the scene until police arrived.
He was later taken into custody for proper case disposition.
Authorities said Samuel was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
