BACOLOD CITY – A 24-year-old college student died after his motorcycle crashed into a gutter in Purok Nami-Nami Uno, Barangay Sum-ag, early Thursday.
Police identified the victim as alias “Jun,” a resident of Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Police Lt. Col. Ramel Sarona, head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), said the victim was believed to be speeding toward Barangay Sum-ag when he lost control around 1 a.m.
He was thrown about five meters from the crash site, Sarona said.
There were reports that the victim was intoxicated, but an investigation is ongoing, he added.
Although the victim was wearing a helmet, he suffered fatal head injuries due to the severe impact.
