Lt. Commander Jansen Benjamin, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Negros Occidental chief, said PCG personnel of Cauayan sub-station were conducting shore patrol when they apprehended Motor Banca (MBCA) Sheila Mae.
Based on the list issued by the PCG, the passengers and crew of the vessel included seven adults and eight minors.
When asked by PCG personnel, Benjamin said the passengers went to Cauayan for a vacation with a relative.
The 15 were subsequently turned over to the local government of Cauayan and were immediately placed on quarantine at the town’s health center.
