BACOLOD City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has designated a new commander for Coast Guard District Western Visayas.
Captain Edgar Ybañez assumed the post of outgoing Commodore Hostillo Arturo Cornelio on October 4 during the virtual turnover rites led by Vice Admiral Leopoldo Laroya, PCG commandant.
Ybañez was previously assigned as district commander of Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon.
Cornelio has been reassigned as district commander of Coast Guard District National Capital Region-Central Luzon.
Aside from this, seven other Coast Guard districts were also reshuffled.
Laroya lauded the outgoing commanders for their outstanding performances from their previous areas of responsibility.
He reminded the incoming commanders to continue the projects being initiated, ensure proper enforcement of laws, and support PCG Auxiliary volunteers.
