Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player Jordan Clarkson has found a new home, signing a one-year $3.6 million deal with the New York Knicks confirmed on July 8, 2025.
It was already reported that the Eastern Conference team intended to acquire Clarkson a week ago, but the trade couldn’t push through as the shooting guard is yet to clear waivers from his former squad, the Utah Jazz.
New York was quick to smooth things out for Clarkson and immediately signed him to a contract after finishing his paperwork at Utah. The Knicks’ PR team then updated their fans with a letter, welcoming the scoring machine with excitement for the upcoming 2025-2026 NBA season.
Before agreeing to a deal with New York, Clarkson spent the last six years with the Jazz, where he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award during the 2020-2021 NBA season.
Together with Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, and Joe Ingles, Clarkson and the Jazz made several promising NBA playoff runs but were always lashed out in the semifinals, the reason why the Utah front office decided to disband their core.
However, Clarkson was retained in the roster, and acted as the veteran presence when Utah rebuilt its player pool in 2023.
In his final season with the Jazz, Clarkson only played a total of 37 games due to multiple injuries but still showed how lethal he is offensively, averaging 16.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds.
His highest scoring average was during the 2022-2023 season as he tallied 20.8 points per game in just 32.6 minutes of playing time.
Upon his arrival in New York, newly designated head coach Mike Brown will have a huge puzzle to solve, especially in the backcourt rotation of Clarkson, Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, and Cameron Payne.
