The projected king growling tiger for the upcoming UAAP Season 83 just abandoned the jungle he once ruled.
CJ Cansino, the young superstar of the UST Growling Tigers, will be leaving the squad and will no longer suit up for the white and yellow.
Just when things were starting to look good for UST, Cansino’s departure will somehow leave the Aldin Ayo led squad hurt after losing their sophomore superstar.
After a roller-coaster couple of days for UST and Cansino, the 6’1’’ guard finally had the courage to speak up, and said that he really never wanted to leave the team, but the team made him.
“Bigyan lang ako ng isang rason para hindi lumipat, maglalaro pa rin ako sa UST. Kaya lang, tinanggal ako eh. Hindi mo naman pwede ipagpilitan yung sarili mo. May pangarap rin naman ako para sa sarili ko. Kaya sobrang lungkot lang na kailangan kong umalis sa UST kahit hindi ko gusto,” Cansino revealed.
After days of speculation of what really went down, Cansino finally broke his silence and said that it was not his decision to leave the team because UST was his dream school way back from his younger days.
“UST is my dream school kaya nalulungkot talaga ako sa nangyari. Wala akong masabi kundi salamat sa suporta ng community, fans at admin,” Cansino said.
Just a day after Cansino’s revelation, it was the UP Fighting Maroons’ turn to make a big announcement.
Head coach Bo Perasol confirmed that Cansino will be joining the already stacked Fighting Maroons squad.
However, Cansino will have to serve a one-year residency as per rules of the UAAP for school transferees.
The addition of Cansino will not only make the Fighting Maroons a deeper team, but also will have themselves the commitment of a star in the making.
