City inoculates more than 4,000 in village-based vaccinations

The Iloilo City Government administered up to 4,428 doses of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines in 11 barangays in 6 districts during the kickoff of the barangay-based vaccination on Aug. 30, 2021.
House-to-house vaccinations were also conducted in the host barangays for those who cannot move out of their homes, such as senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Vaccination teams employed by the city government in partnership with the barangays took charge of inoculating residents.
A central team headquartered at the Iloilo City Community College premises in Molo took tabs of the vaccination data.
Majority of the vaccines were administered in City Proper (1,263), particularly in Barangays Veterans Village (507), Rizal Estanzuela (388), and Rizal Pala-pala I (365).
Jabs in Brgy. Veterans Village were also administered to residents of Sto. Rosario-Duran and Concepcion, while inoculation in Rizal Pala-pala I were also opened to residents of Rizal Pala-pala II.
Arevalo administered 731 in Brgys. Calaparan (391) and Sto. Niño Norte (340).
717 persons in San Isidro (415) and Balabago (302) in Jaro district also received their jabs.
The other barangays included Baldoza in La Paz (581), Boulevard in Molo (440), Bo. Obrero in Lapuz (379), and Bakhaw in Mandurriao (320).
According to the city government, barangays scheduled for the succeeding vaccinations are:
- Sambag, Ungka, Bito-on, and Cubay for Jaro;
- Caingin for La Paz;
- Veterans Village, Concepcion, Rizal Pala-pala I and II, Tanza Baybay, and Bonifacio for City Proper;
- Bolilao and Taft North for Mandurriao;
- San Juan for Molo;
- Niño Norte and Sur for Arevalo; and
- Mansaya for Lapuz.
As of Aug. 28, 143,043 individuals have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Iloilo City. The number is 27.25% of the 525,000 target population that must be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity.
123,041 persons are still waiting for the schedule of their second dose.
