City Hall employees back to five-day work week

The Iloilo City government has reverted to the usual five-day regular work week starting Monday, May 16, 2022.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said City Hall operations will be back to normal as employees will now report to work from Monday to Friday.

“Balik na kita halin alas 8 pakadto alas 5. Madamo gani sang nagreklamo kay indi na three days ang ila day off, wala na long weekend,” he said jokingly during the regular press conference.

On April 20, the mayor issued Memorandum Order No. 89 mandating the resumption of the regular five-day work week schedule starting on May 16, 2022.

“Effective, May 16, the Iloilo City government will resume the regular five-day work week schedule, eight hours from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,” the order said.

To recall, the City Hall implemented the four-day work week last March 28.

Under the temporary work arrangement, employees of the Iloilo City Hall reported for work from Monday to Thursday starting from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or a total of 10 hours per day.

Hence, the City Hall employees had an extra day off on Friday.

The working arrangement was adopted in response to the rising fuel prices.

Treñas said some employees were able to utilize the extra day off to spend time with their families.

“May iban nagapauli sa ila probinsya kag may iban nakapa-Boracay but subong balik na gid kita sa normal,” he said.

During Monday’s flag ceremony, the mayor lauded the City Hall employees whom he regarded as the people behind the success of the projects and programs in Iloilo City.

“Kadamo sang nagdayaw sang aton nga ginakay-o nga Plaza Libertad. Ang Plaza Libertad wala ni nagtahum bangod sa akon, nagtahum ini bangod sa aton mga engineers, architects, kag mga opisyales diri sa syudad. Bangod sa inyo, naga-improve kag naga-develop ang syudad. Bangod sa inyo, madamo kita sang serbisyo nga nahatag sa syudad. Nagapasalamat gid ako sa aton mga empleyado,” he told the City Hall employees.  (DG)
