An employee of the Passi City engineer’s office was arrested after he reportedly fired his firearm evening of July 30, 2020.
Police Staff Sergeant Roderick Larida, Passi City police investigator, said the incident happened at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Barangay Bacuranan, Passi City.
The area is around 100 meters from the boarding house of suspect Rodrigo Silveo, 65, a driver assigned to the Passi City engineer’s office.
Elsa Castaños, 60, LTO-Passi City chief, reported to Passi City Police Station that Silveo, who was believed to be drunk, arrived at their office around 8:20 p.m. Thursday.
He allegedly pulled a gun tucked in his waist and fired it at the ground.
Thirty minutes later, police arrested the suspect at his family-owned eatery, just across the LTO office.
Recovered from his possession was a magazine loaded with three ammunition of caliber .45 pistol.
Security guard Shyne Degala also turned over an empty shell of the same pistol.
Larida said that the Silveo’s wife, Judith, also turned over to Barangay Captain Bernabe Ladiet a caliber .45 Norinco pistol with serial number BA30025-10-246.
Silveo is now detained at Passi City police lock-up cell and would be charged for alarm and scandal, illegal discharge of firearm, and violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
