ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Roxas City Councilor Fernando Luis A. Viterbo is pushing for an ordinance establishing no-parking and one-side parking zones in Barangay Tiza to ease traffic congestion.
The proposed measure, titled “An Ordinance Defining All One-Side Parking and No-Parking Zones Within Barangay Tiza and Prescribing Penalties for Violations Thereof,” seeks to regulate parking along key routes in the village.
Viterbo said the ordinance covers Hemingway Street up to Block 6 of Malipayon Village, as well as the stretch from Block 6 Malipayon Village to Lawaan Highway.
He said traffic congestion in these areas has long been a concern, particularly during rush hours, often resulting in bottlenecks.
Viterbo said the city’s Traffic Management Unit will first conduct a dry run in the affected areas to assess the effectiveness of the proposed traffic scheme.
He added that one-side parking is also being proposed along side streets in residential areas, particularly from Atienza Street to Kamansi Extension, to prevent double parking.
Viterbo said he is likewise pushing to designate the road surrounding Villareal Stadium as a one-side parking zone to further ease congestion and improve traffic flow.
